Four GP practices in central Harrogate are celebrating this week as work on their new home reaches a major milestone. With the site now cleared for the new Harrogate Primary Care Centre off Westmoreland Street, developer One Medical Ltd marked the occasion with an official Ground Breaking ceremony.

This development brings the four surgeries together in purpose-built premises allowing for expansion of services and improved facilities for staff and patients alike. The practices will operate independently within the centre, allowing patients to see their existing GP teams in a modern purpose built environment. The location of the new building is ideal for the community and the local hospital and the practices are keen to move in.

Annette Given, Practice Manager of The Spa Surgery said: "It is fantastic to see work beginning on site and we are very excited about watching the building take shape. We are delighted that patients will benefit from the extra services this new modern surgery will allow us to provide. We will work hard to maintain our high levels of care and friendly service when we move and assure patients that they will continue to see the familiar faces of their own doctors and nurses."

Rachel Beverley-Stevenson, Chief Executive of One Medical added: "We are delighted to be instrumental in delivering a state-of-the-art integrated health centre to Harrogate and look forward to completing the project in the Autumn of 2009. The new building will allow the practices to offer many enhanced and extended services that they have not been able to develop in their current buildings."

The combined facility will be offering a range of Doctor and nurse-led services plus a pharmacy and health related counselling and therapies. There will also be well equipped waiting rooms and an information area for the convenience of patients using the centre.

One Medical has been working closely with leading Yorkshire property firm Dacre, Son & Hartley to market the available space at the development. Daniel Brumfitt, Head of Commercial Agency at Dacre, Son & Hartley, commented: "The new centre will be a great facility, providing a new and improved environment for patients. The additional space is now available to let and we hope to attract tenants to the site who will help create a one-stop-shop for the local community."
