BISHOP OF DERBY OFFICIALLY OPENS
LISTER HOUSE

Derby’s brand new health centre, Lister House brought to life by specialist primary care developer One Medical, officially opened today. The centre brings together Lister House Surgery, Derby Open Access Centre, Pear Tree Pharmacy and Active Total Health Physiotherapy under one roof, providing first class healthcare in state-of-the art facilities to everyone living in Derby.

The Bishop of Derby, the Rt Revd Dr Alastair Redfern, was guest of honour at the event, unveiling a bell that was rescued from the previous building on the site which was once a Bishop’s residence. The bell was reportedly used by earlier Bishops of Derby to summon their staff. The event was an opportunity for the community to celebrate their fantastic new facilities whilst honouring local history.

Dr Spincer from Lister House Surgery commented, “We are delighted with the new Lister House building. We were previously working from cramped and outdated premises but the new building allows us to provide first class healthcare to all our patients. We can now increase and enhance the number of services we can offer our patients in modern, purpose built facilities.”

One Medicare, One Medical’s sister company, deliver NHS walk-in services from the Derby Open Access Centre. Dr Phil Earnshaw, One Medicare’s Medical Director, commented, “People have increasingly busy lives and we’ve noticed that with the economic climate and recession, people are very reluctant to take time off to see a doctor during work hours. The Derby Open Access Centre is open 8am to 8pm, seven days a week, 365 days a year and provides a one-stop approach enabling people to receive medical care at their convenience where it would normally be quite difficult to arrange appointments.”
