30.03.2010 - Work Begins On New GP Primary Care Centre
Construction work has started on a brand new, state-of-the-art GP health centre in Long Eaton, Nottinghamshire. Dr Gokhale's Practice is being developed by One Medical Ltd, a key provider of primary care premises and facilities. The new building will provide patients in Long Eaton with outstanding facilities and will enable the practice to develop their range of services.
Drs Gokhale have been practising in Long Eaton for the past 26 years and now feel their premises are cramped and outdate. In order to fulfil plans of offering a better environment and much needed additional services to the local community, the doctors sought One Medical's expertise.
Currently delivering healthcare from their practice in Wharfedale Road, Drs Gokhale and Gokhale are looking forward to moving to the new building which will be situated less than a mile away. This ensures that patients will not have to travel far from treatment when the new surgery is open.
The £1.3m build, which is being developed by One Medical, is due for completion in December of this year. It will serve 4000 patients across two floors, with five consulting rooms and two treatment rooms. The new premises will also house a pharmacy.
Dr S Gokhale, Senior Partner at the practice, said: "We are very pleased that work has begun on the new centre. I am certain that our patients will love the new centre, which will be a fantastic bespoke premises from which to deliver healthcare services."
Rachel Beverley-Stevenson, Chief Executive of One Medical, added: "I am delighted that One Medical were chosen to deliver this new centre for the community in Long Eaton. We have worked closely with the doctors, their patients and NHS Derbyshire County to ensure that we provide an excellent, modern facility to meet everyone's needs."
One Medical, which provides a one-stop solution to healthcare, began trading in 2004 and is a key provider of primary care premises and facilities.
